On Becoming a Big Brother

Charlie turns out to be an incredibly kind and patient big brother and a pretty great travel companion. Go Charlie! Or as someone around here says about 100 times a day, "Chah-lee!" When HeHu draws a picture, it's, "Chah-lee, kan! Kan Chah-lee!" ("Charlie, look! Look Charlie!") until Big Bro looks, pronounces, "Hen hao!" ("Very good!" or idiomatically akin to "Good job!") -- and only then can he get back to coloring.

Charlie for his part is excited about introducing his little brother to new experiences, often bringing back food from the breakfast buffet for him to try, or today for example, teaching him karate moves.

Here's a collection of excellent brother moments.

  1. Your decision to take Charlie I recall was made for other reasons, BUT look what has happened for your new little boy! You could not have done better. Charlie warms my heart.
